World Sanskrit Book Fair in Bangalore

World Sanskrit Book Fair has started in Bangalore.
For full details visit their official site. They also have a live webcast during the function.

A really huge function with heavy attendance, it was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Karnata Mr BS Yeddyurappa. Many speakers spoke in fluent Sanskrit, and it was still very much understandable to anyone who had even a few years of exposure.

A small village was setup where all the shopkeepers and people talked in Sanskrit, including a small case of judicial issue, where the local judge heard the case and gave the verdict.

There were lot of school students as well in attendance. A lot of book stalls with all kinds of Sanskrit books have been setup. Plan to be there on the weekend if you haven't been so far.

Here are some photos from today, more on the official site.

  3. Many thanks to all those who made this 4-day event happen. It is about Time. It makes us all proud. Many Thanks for your article coverage on "World Samskritam Book Fair". Why we Indians were not able to hold onto this richness is incomprehensible. The value of samskritam is known worldwide, except in Indian Government. Let our Government raise above political obstacles in implementing samskritam in schools. I wish I had studied samskritam when I was a little child in my school when I was studying in India (living abroad i long for this treasure now), you have no idea you are sitting on a treasure not seeing this treasure. Let us give this treasure to future children.....chandrashekhar, Columbus, Ohio, USA...

  4. Amazing initiative !! one of the many subtle but "root cause" solutions to most of the problems faced by mankind today ... You must have all read about the compulsory Samskitam Classes at a school in London ...
